Bremen celebrates its 10th Birthday with a worldwide sensation

Original edition – The “unspoiled” of the Schlumpf collection

Nowadays, it is anything but easy to find an “unspoiled” classic. Some reserves
of the original left vehicles can be found at older collectors and/or in the depots of museums, such as the Schlumpf collection in the Musée National de l' Automobil in Muhlhouse. The brothers Fritz and Hans Schlumpf were textile manufacturer who collected various cars between 1945 and 1977. Today, the museum is one of the biggest and most fascinating ones worldwide.

The requirements for the exhibits were strict: The vehicles which had not been in top condition or restored, were not allowed to be presented in the museum. They belonged in the restoration first. According to the museum management, exhibits which are not ready to drive, or which are incomplete, dirty and scratched, could create a wrong and negative impression concerning the quality of the whole museum. Cars that were classified as defective, incomplete, or not representative, have been parked in the big depot of unrestored vehicles, which is located on several floors behind the museum. Until the summer of 2011, the rule that cars just leave the depot for being restored, endured.

The Bremen Classic Motor Show is friendly connected with the museum since 2007. Back in the days, the team already asked, whether some of the vehicles of the museum’s “storeroom” could be presented in Bremen, which has been rejected according to the guidelines of the museum. A new request in spring 2011 led to a cautious rethinking:

Bremen has not just the ability to fulfill the worldwide reputation to display original left vehicles in a special exhibition, but is authorized to present cars from the depot of the Musée National for the first time in public!

Many visitors of the museum in Muhlhouse wish to take a look at the closed floors, which, however, will not be opened in the future. But now, ten of the cars will be shown in Bremen!

Look forward to a worldwide premier and the following vehicles:
