Motor sports fans in the classic car community can look forward to a particular highlight at the Bremen Classic Motorshow 2024: Among the exhibits in the Lancia special show in Hall 5 will be a Safari Lancia Delta Evo. In this car, Juha Kankkunen not only won the 39th Rally Safari in 1991. With four further victories in Greece, Finland, Australia and the UK, the Finnish driver also became the overall winner of the World Rally Championship. During the Group-A era between 1986 and 1991, the Lancia Delta dominated the rally world and won the Constructors World Championship six years in succession.
The car presented in Bremen was discovered in Cyprus by Peter Zima. After compiling a database of Lancia A-chassis cars, he knew that the "dirt-track Delta" had belonged to Cyprus' general Opel importer up to 2003 and that it had won the 1991 Rally Safari. Zima restored the entire body and technical features, and hunted for specific Safari parts. What he couldn't find, he made himself. Now visitors to the Bremen Classic Motorshow 2024 at the beginning of February will be able to see the Safari Lancia Delta Evo in all its former glory.
